I'm having trouble with this construction "no longer". It seems that you seem to think it did reliably at one time, and for that I'm going to have to ask you to put on this nice long-sleeved coat and come with me.

Without tone of voice (in print) sarcasm tends to become satire. Italics can sort of help imply tone of voice, thus avoiding the satire trap. But why worry. It's not like satire is often taken at face value rather than ironically or anything (I have no idea how get my phone to itallic)
